A private visit was organised for two collectors in Maya Rochat’s studio in Lausanne. It was a joy to dive into Maya’s immersive work and technicolour universe, to connect with the artist and discuss her multi-layered process. Maya rolled out large-scale pieces on the floor alongside three-dimensional cut works she had recently produced.

Maya Rochat creates visual montages in highly saturated colours combining natural motifs and abstract painting. Her photographs of plants, rocks and rivers provide a basis for her experimentation. She layers images, digitally or physically altering them, playing with transparency, texture and colour. From artists’ books and prints to light boxes, her multimedia works also extend beyond the frame – in the form of immersive installations and video projections.
